Yet another committee was set up to conduct investigations, this time by the Defence Ministry, consisting of senior but “neutral” armed forces officers. No reason was given for the need for yet another investigation, and Defence Minister Gen. Banchob expressed the opinion that written testimony to the House committee should be regarded as sufficient. Although the military expressed its satisfaction at the membership of the new committee, it was generally felt that it would achieve little, as some of its number were subordinates of Issarapong and Kaset.
