The case company is a contract manufacturer that
has no products of its own. The company specialized
in manufacturing ketchups, mustards, sauces,
and jams for leading brands. The products are designed
and manufactured according to the wishes of
customers, who are marketing companies, wholesalers,
and industrial companies. The company
consists of 60 employees serving over 50 different
customers; about 280 products of different recipes
are manufactured. The aim of the case study was to
analyze material and information flows within the
company and its demand chains in order to find best
