This was also the case in our participant population (see
Fig. 3). Longer tendons have previously been shown to be more
compliant (Zhao et al., 2009), and so one might have expected the
tendon to take up more of the stretch than the muscle. However,
our results show that despite muscle spasticity and tendon length
differences, muscles and tendons elongate relatively equally in
response to stretching, with smaller length changes from the
fascicles.
