Moose live in forested areas where there is an abundance of food supply. Moose can be found in a variety of forests including boreal, deciduous and coniferous forests. They prefer areas that have been flooded or where there have been widespread fires as this leads to the young shoots that moose prefer to eat. The main indicator of moose habitat is temperature. Moose live in areas with temperate to subarctic climates where the average temperature in summer does not go much above 15°C. These areas will usually be covered by at least 50cm of snow in the winter.
