Although not quite as popular an emigration destination as it was pre the global financial meltdown in 2008, the United Kingdom nevertheless remains one of the world’s more favoured destinations for immigrants hailing from all four corners of the globe. While the promise of decently paid work, once undoubtedly the main driver for immigration in the UK (especially from migrants hailing from other, less economically secure European Union nations), may not be as widely available as it once was, the four countries which make up the Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – still offer much to appeal to newcomers.
