However and nevertheless
‘However’ is a way of expressing contrast in formal speech or writing. It can go at the beginning , middle or end of the sentence and is separated by a comma (or a pause in speech):
‘We don’t refund money without a receipt, however, I will make an exception today.’
‘We don’t refund money without a receipt. However, I will make an exception today.’
‘Nevertheless’ is a very formal way of saying ‘however’.
‘I am not happy with the work you did in my garden. Nevertheless, I will give you one more project to do.’
