By adopting a simple method of producing bicomponent fibres,a composite with an internal fibrous structure can be obtained. It is composed of PVDF nanofibres, chemically resistant and exhibiting good mechanical strength, which are embedded in a biodegradable and biocompatible polylactide matrix. One possible use of this material is in medical implants. The use of PLA and PVDF ensures biocompatibility of the composite, and the presence of PVDF additionally provides it with mechanical strength.
