The Andaman Youth Leaders Project (AYLP) aims to gather 25 of the most promising Thai undergraduates with a potential to become leaders and change-makers in the areas of coastal resource management and marine conservation by employing a youth-led whole of community approaches to solving coastal and marine environmental challenges confronting the Andaman Sea region. The project is focused on providing a four-day intensive environmental leadership accelerator program to equip the AYLP participants with practical knowledge, skills and materials that they can apply and contribute to achieving sustainable development of the marine resources and coastal communities of the Andaman Sea eco-region.
The environmental leadership accelerator program will take place in an island within the Satun province through a combination of such activities as lectures, workshops, field visits, volunteer opportunities, and mentorship sessions covering the ways by which the participants can devise creative solutions to their respective coastal communities. At the end of the program, the participants will be pitching their very own project proposals geared towards helping their communities with a specific focus on the marine environmental problems of the Andaman Sea and the southern region of Thailand.
