A decoction of the leaves is drunk to treat malarial fever 7] and the crushed leaves are mixed with water and used for bathing to treat kidney stones and difficulty in urination [ 8]. Previous chemical constituents on this plant have resulted in the isolation of a number of compounds [ 9- 13]. We now describe the isolation of an additional amide from the aerial part of this plant which was collected from Sumatra, Indonesia and also its antibacterial and cytotoxicity activities.
