Interviews were digitally recorded after obtaining signed
informed consent from interviewees; only three interviewees
refused to be tape-recorded and their responses were recorded by
extensive note-taking. The development of the interview tool was
guided by Lavis et al. (2002) framework.
The recorded interviews were transcribed verbatim. Arabic interviews
were translated to English then back-translated to Arabic
to avoid deviation from what interviewees intended to convey.
Interview transcripts were reviewed independently by two members
of the research team and the coding framework was discussed
until agreement was reached. The transcripts were coded using
NVivo 9 software.
