Inoculated grapes intended for quality evaluation were ran- domized, treated, packaged, and stored as described previously for table grape clusters. Five clusters per treatment were removed after 4 weeks of storage at 0–1◦C for quality evaluation. The quality of the fruit was examined by evaluation of berry and rachis appearance, incidence of cracked and shattered berries, flavour and weight loss by a panel of five trained judges. The visual characteristics including berry and rachis appearance, were scored under daylight. The flavour of the grapes was eval- uated under red light in a taste room with individual booths in order to avoid the interference of visual judgment. Berry firm- ness was measured on 10 healthy berries per replication by first removing the skin from the cheek with a razor blade, then mea- suring the force of penetration in newtons using a TA-XT2i texture analyzer (Stable Microsystems, Godalming, U.K.).
