In class we spent the majority of our time up on our feet and improvising. We tried everything, and everyone’s ideas. Since everybody was so full of ideas, most of them conflicting, it was difficult to come to a conclusion, which prevented us from progressing very quickly. Our main conflict was whether to take an abstract or realistic approach, but ultimately made the piece melodramatically realistic – so much so that our point was almost comedically emphasised. We played around with positioning, and space and place. We formed this all around the centre bench. In one scene a character stands on it, in others they walk around it, etc. In our practices we took many different approaches, and at many points changed the story entirely.
