For the third time Miguel Angel Jimenez on Sunday broke his own record as the oldest winner in European Tour history, winning the Spanish Open on Sunday for the first time in 27 appearances.
At 50 years and 133 days, he topped the record he set last December at the Hong Kong Open (49 years, 337 days).
The Spaniard has been playing in his country’s national Open since 1983. This was his 27th appearance.
It’s already been a memorable month for Jimenez, who finished fourth at the Masters, won in his Champions Tour debut a week later, and remarried the following week.
