Thereafter the FFA levels decreased, still remaining in violation of the standard. Though the FFA levels were two-fold higher than standard also in the 1-MCP treated fruit, they were lower than in the control. Moreover, these FFA contents remained constant for the time span observed in our experiments. Both 1-MCP concentrations, 500 and 1000 nl L-1, were effective in preventing the postharvest increaseof FFA levels in oil-palm fruit.
