The diet
was then submersed into a beaker containing
the ethyl alcohol and solubilized MTand placed
under a vented laboratory hood where it was
shielded from light. After approximately 15
min, most of the ethyl alcohol in the beaker
had evaporated. Under protection from light,
diets were transferred onto aluminum foil trays
and spread out in a thin layer under a vented
hood to complete the evaporation of the remaining
ethyl alcohol. This process was terminated
when no alcohol could be detected by smell.
The diets were then placed into plastic containers
and stored in a freezer (0 C) until feeding.
The control diet was prepared similarly except
no MT was added to alcohol before submersion
of the diet and evaporation.
