1. Coke could have decided to withdraw the brand and introduce a new brand. Outline the advantages and disadvantages of this approach
Advantages: Many consumers were willing to re- trial the product.
Disadvantages: Coke had to spent lots of cost to re-positioning to be new brand.
2. Why do you think that Coke decided to persist with the Mother Energy brand, particularly when it had been considered unsuccessful by many in the target market?
I think coke planned that Mother Energy would be able to join in Energy drink market and coke has confidence in the mother energy brand successful in the future and can be developed better taste.
3. Once a product is considered unsuccessful by the majority of a target market, how can a company move it back being successful (that is, what tactics should it employ)?
The new can, which doubled in size carried there messaging about the change ‘New Tastes nothing like the old one’ and ‘Mother of all energy kicks’
4. Review their relaunch TV commercial.
“The Mother of all energy hits” is the message of relaunch TV commercial, it’s made people want to try again.
5. How important is it that their communication adopted a two-sided message approach?
These massages are mean to everything was changed; it’s not awful like previous one.
6. How important was it to use humour?
Humour story is the best way to attracting people to laugh and understand.
7. Is this a suitable ad, or would there be an alternative approach?
We think, it is suitable ad because they were destroyed lab of the old one where made an awful taste.
