Finding Basis Information
After you have formulated a topic statement, the next step is to
complete a working bibliography. A working bibliography is a list of sources that may
appear on the final bibliography you turn in with your paper. Following are
suggestions on three basic types of information sources.
a) Online catalog seems deceptively easy to use. The OPAC Finding
Books explains the techniques for making effective use of the
online catalog to find out which subject headings are used for
your topic.
b) Electronic Index & Database updates the information found in
books. Usually you will need to use more than one to find an
adequate range of material. The OPAC Finding Articles in
Periodicals provides a list of indexes from which you can choose
those most useful for your topic.
