Test results showed that the cement mortar mixed with
oil palm fiber has lower porosity and water absorption than those
mixed with coconut coir fiber, but the bulk density are higher
because the density of oil palm fiber is higher than that of coconut
coir fiber, and this affects the bulk density of the cement mortar
and also other factors. Moreover, as the replacement ratios of fibers
were increased, the cement mortars mixed with both fibers have
an increase in porosity and water absorption, and a decrease in
bulk density, which is consistent with other studies and
[4]. Their experimental results show that an increase in the fiber
ratio of the cement mortar will result in reduced density and
higher porosity and water absorption compared to non-fiber
cement mortars.
