July is National Grilling Month, so SeafoodSource put together this list of five popular seafoods for grilling here in the United States with the help of Barton Seaver, chef, author and director of the Healthy and Sustainable Food Program at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Summertime is often associated with a backyard barbecue, along with the traditional hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks or chicken wings, but seafood is popular on the grill too, though Seaver said some people do it better than others.
“All grills are not the same,” he said, noting he likes to use charcoal with some wood chips thrown in to add that smoky flavor. “Adding the flavor of wood to grilled seafood is really what makes it shine.”
Some seafoods work better than others, too – flaky fish, such as cod and flounder, don’t take well to a smoky infusion, but ultimately “You can grill anything.”
