as discussed during our short phone call this morning we checked the ultrasonic testing report internally.
To verify if those findings are correct and maybe dangerous we have some questions which should be clarified before.
· Have both shaft teeth been checked on the whole circumference or just in some segments?
· In the indication table for both shafts the signal level seems to be 22,8dB (also visible on the pictures) but next to this column there is a scanning access with +6 mentioned. Is this a signal amplification?
· The found position and length etc. is clear but the found amplitude is just given with >20dB! What is the main signal amplitude? Furthermore what is the KSR-value (circular disc-shaped reflector)? Thinking of the test piece with a hole in 19mm depth this would mean a KSR of 1,88.
· Have the teeth only be tested from the tip top or also measured from the load- or rear-flank?
· The bull gear indication table only shows generator side teeth but not turbine side teeth! Why? Furthermore the evaluation result with teeth 25, 27 and 28 seem to be the same as found on pinion shaft but from our opinion this cannot really be true as it is mentioned to be related to Generator side 35 – 66.
· Can you or customer provide pictures of the shafts showing the imprinted numbers (between the both toothing halfs)? This is only for confirmation purpose to compare the correct protocols with the ultrasonic testing protocol from customer.
Please confirm if we should have a further call.
