Located on the eastern foothills of Khao Tanyong, Daksin Palace, the royal residence of Their Majesties the King and Queen in the deep South, is an important attraction and structure in Narathiwat. Ban Khao Tanyong residents, who are mainly Muslims, presented a plot of land to His Majesty the King in 1972 to build a palace. Construction of the first building of the palace was completed in 1973, when Their Majesties the King and Queen resided in this palace for the first time.
