The climate in the lowlands of LuzonIsland and Southern Vietnam was classified as monsoonaltropical (=Am according to Köppen–Geiger classification;Peel, Finlayson, & McMahon 2007). Temperatures show noseasonality (Fig. 2). The climate for the lowlands in North-ern Vietnam was classified as warm humid subtropical (=Cwaaccording to Köppen–Geiger classification; Peel et al. 2007).It is characterized by hot summers and cool winters. Annualprecipitation is higher, and temperatures are lower in themountains than in the lowland regions.
