Morgan (1998) also corroborated the fact by saying that “although there have been
considerable descriptions of the use of writing in Mathematics, there has been relatively little
analysis of the texts themselves”. (p.236). Pugalee (2001) in his conclusion emphasized the
need to address the paucity of research in this area. These reports are in the context of
America and some other parts of the world. Johansson (2003) researched on textbook
analysis on Mathematics education in Sweden also concluded that ‘research on Mathematics
textbook is still a rather unexplored field’ (p.1).
