Stem Cell Research is proud to have sponsored the ‘Best Poster’ award for the EMBO workshop on Stem cell mechanobiology in development and disease which took place in Capri, Italy, 18-21 October 2015.
Nikolce Gjorevski received a prize of 250 Euro for his poster, “The role of the physical microenvironment in regulating intestinal stem cell (ISC) behavior during morphogenesis and homeostasis”.
The work conducted by Dr Gjoresvki in Matthias Lutolf lab at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland, identified a fully defined synthetic matrix able to support the expansion of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) as organoids in vitro and unraveled the different requirement of mechanical forces at distinct stages of ISCs differentiation.
