According to previous studies, the results suggest that polymeric coatings on fruits form a barrier to water vapor transmission that reduces weight loss(Hern´andez-Mu˜nozandothers2006;Benhabiles and others 2013; Gol and others 2013; Velickova and others 2013). Normally, weight loss occurs during fruit storage due to transfer of humidity and some oxidation and respiratory processes. EACs are selective barriers to O2 and CO2, modifying internal atmospheres and slowing down the respiration rate of fruit, which in turn reduces weight loss (Atress and others 2010).
