Understanding feminist theory in philosophy and philosophy of education remains vital today even as the argument is made that many women are living well. Its history in the academy is best described as a set of frameworks that have evolved through theoretical differentiation. The article is organized in three major formulations preceded by one in history of thought: wave feminism, feminism in philosophy, and feminist theory and education. The present state of the latter receives emphasis. The article includes exemplars, key references, and suggested readings
