Sic Vita

When titling this poem, Henry King was probably referring to the full Latin Phrase ‘Sic Vita Est’ - such is life. I draw this poem to the attention of those reading my blog as it continues a common theme in poems I like which probably says a fair bit about me. Some time ago, I wrote a blogpost about the poem ‘Blackberry Picking’ by Seamus Heaney. The aforementioned theme is the brevity of life and perhaps the lack of constancy in all elements of life – Henry King uses beautiful, simple metaphors to sharply turn a rush of optimism in its opening, to the darker reality humans face.
