Fasting glucose levels remained unchanged during
pregnancy (Table 2), which was also reflected in unchanged
HbA1c levels. Fasting insulin levels increased
with progressing pregnancy. From 24 to 32 weeks of gestation,
insulin sensitivity and -cell function decreased
and first-phase and second-phase insulin response increased.
During the course of pregnancy, 4 women were
diagnosed with GDM. Fasting LDL and triglyceride levels
rose during pregnancy, whereas HDL levels remained stable
over time (Table 2).
