Different kinds of essential oils and volatiles were extracted
from three species of Thymus cultivated Portuguese plants. In
terms of extraction performance, the hydrodistillation process
revealed higher yields when compared to supercritical CO2
extraction in two of the cases: within the former and more
traditional extraction process, T. x citriodorus has shown
enhanced capacity with 1.26% (w/w), while both T. zygis and
T. fontqueri gave nearly half of that yield, being equal to 0.67%
(w/w). On the other hand, when using supercritical CO2
extraction, obtained yields for T. x citriodorus and T. fontqueri
were below 0.05% (w/w) while for T. zygis it was 0.77% (w/w)
