After Muay Thai every morning I would go to a little store down a country road. The same village girl would sell me water.
I would always greet her in Thai with hello, and she would never smile or even say hi back. I thought she just wasn't very friendly or didn't like foreigners.
She'd always look at me in a way that made me feel like I did something wrong.
On my last day, when I turned my back to walk out of the store she said "Saweedee Ka," hello for the first time and was she standing with I her hand outstretched.
I was confused and turned around and took a small piece of paper from her. She looked at me and pushed my hand closed as if she didn't want me to read it in front of her.
I read this note on my walk home, it was flattering. I'll never see this girl again in my life.
It made me realize someone's actions, mannerisms or gestures are certainly not always indicative of their thoughts.
She would be a killer poker player.
