One of the biggest questions we have about "Underworld 5" is whether Scott Speedman, whose character Michael has been absent since the second film of the franchise, or India Eisley, who played Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael's daughter Eve in the fourth movie, will reprise their roles.
Of the two actors, Eisley seems the more likely to return. She's currently listed as a "rumored" cast member on IMDB, and as long as filming for "Underworld 5" doesn't interfere with her role in upcoming sci-fi action film "Skate God," we don't know why she wouldn't (assuming the script calls for it, of course).
Speedman is a different story — though his character was mentioned throughout "Underworld: Awakening," the actor didn't film any new footage for the movie. (His scenes were created with archive footage and a stand-in.) However, he did say in an interview a few years ago that he might be up for returning to the franchise.
"I wasn’t very involved in the ['Underworld: Awakening'] script anyway so it was an easy one to say, 'You guys go do this thing. I’m going to do that,'" he told Dark Lord Bunnykins in 2012. "But, yeah, no. I’m not averse to doing those types of movies or even that franchise. I just want to have a pretty exciting, dynamic part if I’m going to do it."

So why didn't Speedman's character appear in the script that much? According to writer and producer (and Beckinsale's husband) Len Wiseman, he didn't want the relationship between Selene and Michael to take away from the relationship between Selene and Eve.
"You can’t just have Michael in there as a sub-character because he’s so important and if you’re going to have another important character show up, it just washes that relationship entirely," he told Shock Til You Drop.

Two cast members we definitely know are returning are original franchise star Beckinsale and Theo James, who played David in "Underworld: Awakening." Like Beckinsale's, James' return was uncertain, particularly due to his commitment to the "Divergent" series. However, it seems James needed to fulfill an "option agreement" and decided to go with the new "Underworld" movie.
