This procedure was
similarly repeated after detergent cleaning and sanitization with
acetic acid as above except prior to swabbing the surfaces were
first sprayed with 1% (v/v) Quorum Pink II HF detergent and
scrubbed for 2.5, 5 or 10 min, rinsed with water at room temperature,
and left for 5 min for the former, or sprayed with 1%, 2.5% or
5% (v/v) acetic acid, left for 5 min contact time, rinsed with water
at room temperature and then left to dry for 5 min for the latter.
Likewise, the number of viable bacteria that survived on the conveyor
surfaces after sanitization with chlorine was performed in
the same way as acetic acid above, except that the chlorine concentration
was fixed at 100 ppm (v/v) equivalents and the contact
time was varied instead at 5, 15 or 20 min. In all the above cases
each assay to enumerate the number of viable bacteria was replicated
six times
