Mr. Gregg W. Steinhafel served as the Chief Executive Officer of Target Corp. from May 1, 2008 to May 5, 2014 and its President from February 2009 to May 5, 2014. Mr. Steinhafel has gained meaningful leadership experience and retail knowledge. As Chief Executive Officer, he was responsible for determining the strategy and clearly articulating priorities as well as aligning and motivating to execute strategy and clearly articulating priorities as well as aligning and motivating to execute effectively and ensure continued success. He served as Executive Vice President Merchandising at Target from July 1994 to July 1999. He began his career at Target as a merchandise trainee in 1979 and subsequently advanced through a variety of merchandising and operational management positions. Mr. Steinhafel has Board meaningful leadership experience and retail knowledge that he has developed in his more than 30 years with Target. Mr. Steinhafel is responsible for Target's strong brand recognition, devotion to innovation, strong supply chain initiatives, and disciplined approach to managing its business and investing in future growth. In addition, he contributes executive decision-making skills and valuable strategic planning expertise, as well as significant and relevant knowledge of public company requirements and issues. Mr. Steinhafel's significant retail knowledge assists Board in providing guidance with respect to residential business, which is affected by consumer confidence and spending levels, changing buying patterns of customers and the amount of product placement at mass retailers, such as The Home Depot. He served as the Chairman of Target Corp. since February 1, 2009 until May 2014. He serves as Vice Chairman of Retail Industry Leaders Association. He has been a Director of Toro Co. since 1999. He serves as a Member of the Council of National Museum of African American History and Culture.
