60-years-old female, S/P HIPEC, POD #4, ambulating halls, no flatus, foley in place with negative 4.5 liters in a 24-hour period. SBP is holding at 100, HR is 90, K+ is 2.4. Nurse Practitioner replaced potassium with 80meq of KCL and the Nutrition Support Team increased the potassium in TPN to 80meq for four days. Stat K+ levels were drawn throughout the day and intravenous KCL was given to supplement the low levels. TPN rate is 80cc/hr. and maintenance IVF rate is 30cc/hr. What is the problem and why is her potassium level not correcting.
