Electronic ticket on Departure Control System (DCS)
The airline ground agent may retrieve passengers’ ticket information on the airline computer system because all e-ticket are stored electronically. Figure 6.5 shows an electronic ticket within the airline computer system
The check-in agent is required to ensure that passenger has purchased a ticket for a particular flight; therefore, when reviewing tickets, the main focus should be on the name of the passenger, the flight number, the departure date, the departure city, and the arrival city.
Reviewing the passenger identification
After reviewing the passenger tickets, the next steps is to reviewing the passenger identification and verify that the person presenting the identification matches different types of proof-of-identity documents issued by government authorities. On the basic of travel destinations, Different types of documents may be required.
In most countries, the travel documents accepted for domestic travel include identification cards, driving licenses, and passports. When passengers travel internationally, a passport is mandatory. Some countries require passengers to obtain visas from the embassy or consulate before they are allowed to travel to the destination country.
