It is believed that the observations made in this study are of great clinical significance to all involved
with freezing and handling cryopreserved spermatozoa. Abrupt dilution of glycerol levels in cryopreserved sperm for
IVF, or in vivo by the female reproductive tract fluids during artificial insemination (Al) could explain in part, the
consistently lower fertility rates obtained when cryopreserved spermatozoa are used as compared to fresh ones.
