The Towers Watson 2014 Global Survey of Investment and Economic Expectations was conducted in
November and December 2013. It received responses from 128 investment managers, economists,
strategists and market analysts on global economies, capital markets, investment strategies and
governance issues. Short-term (2014), medium-term (2015 – 2018) and long-term (2019 – 2028)
projections were solicited for the most important macroeconomic and capital market indicators. This is
the second year this survey was combined with the Canadian Survey of Economic Expectations, which
was previously administered separately. Respondents with a focus on Canada fielded additional questions
specific to that market.
The overwhelming majority of respondents have more than 10 years of experience in the investment
industry, with more than half of the total respondents having 20 years of experience or more. Many of the
firms have a global business presence. Most manage at least $1 billion in both institutional and retail
assets, with many managing over $50 billion.
