Use of the pH Meter If time permits, you should verify using the pH meter, the pH of some of the above substances you have tested with indicators Your instructor will adjust the pH meter for the class by placing the electrodes in a solution of known pH and setting the dial to give that reading. Then it will be ready to test any of the solutions Rinse the electrodes with distilled water, place them in a beaker containing the solution to be tested, and turn on the pH meter switch. As soon as the pointer or digital reading settles down, read and record the pH. Do this for several of the samples.
