Participants were asked to play the game by tapping the numbers from 1 to 25 as quickly and accurately as possible, and also to remember how each display felt when touched using their bare fingers or one of the two different types of stylus. In other words, they were expected to evaluate the tactile feeling subjectively based on the perceived softness of the combinations of displays and input devices, simultaneously satisfying both speed and accuracy requirements when playing the game. In this experiment, participants were instructed to raise their hand only if they made errors or forgot what to tap next, in which case they performed the trial again.
