In the present investigation Nitrobacter was
subjected to antibacterial response. Inhibition zone
were observed around the discs and wells having diameter
of 6mm. The results of antibacterial potential
of Nitrobacter were recorded in table I.. The comparative
graph of two techniques for antimicrobial response
has been plotted in Fig.1. It was seen that zone
of inhibition is slightly greater in case of well agar as
compared to paper disc method. Nitrobacter showed
significant antibacterial activity against the pathogen
S. aureus tested when compared with control. As the
concentration of culture filtrate increased, there was
increase in the zone of inhibition as shown in graph
(Fig I). New Aminophenoxazinones from a Marine
Halomonas sp. showed antimicrobial activity against
S. aureus having 20mm zone of inhibition with 50µg/
ml concentration of aminophenoxazinone. Chloroform extract of culture filtrate of
Streptomyces sp. reported the activity against S. aureus
MTCC-96 by filter paper disc method. At concentration
of 50ppm it did not showed any inhibition zone
after 48 hours
