MISCELLANEOUS PRINT MEDIA
A whole range of other tactics offer several opportunities for the public relations planner. Consider the following tactics. Posters are visual materials, often approximately three by five feet in size, that can be displayed prominently. Companies often use window displays to give visibility to their products or services; nonprofit organizations sometimes use commercial storefront space made available to them, often when there is a temporary vacancy in a store in a mall or on a downtown street.
Employees and customers alike can benefit from well-maintained bulletin boards, and suggestion boxes are excellent opportunities for organizations to solicit feedback and input from their publics. Other traditional tactics that still have value are pay stuffers or bill inserts, which are messages placed within pay envelopes or bills, respectively. Door hangers that advocate a cause or promote a product or service also can be useful. Business cards remain another effective tactic for organizations to keep their names before potential customers and associates. Some miscellaneous tactics involve recognition programs. For example, certificates are used to acknowledge achievement or participation. Formal proclamations are issued by governmental and sometimes by organizational leaders to draw public attention to a particular cause or theme.
