In adaptability, Kohlberg ‘s scheme appears to be moderately satisfactory. For example, the earliest from of the model was subsequently altered to account for different average levels of moral judgment found in different cultures. Furthermore, the results of empirical studies prompted Kohlberg to concede that the highest level of his six-stage hierarchy of reasoning was perhaps unduly idealistic and not actually found in real-life settings. In contrast to these adjustments, in certain other respects he appeared unprepared to realign his views to accommodate other criticisms.
