The Huang family traveled on special bikes. They carried more than 100pound (45kilograms) of supplies, including eight bicycle tires, sleeping bags, cooking utensils, and a notebook computer. They used the computer to send stories about their trip back to a newspaper in Taiwan. It was not an easy trip. They bicycled across hot deserts and cold mountains, and something slept in schools, hospitals, or gas station. They even slept in a jail one night! Li-Chun believes that the difficult trip was a good experience for her children. "Even though they had to leave school for a year, they learned many new things. They could not learn these things from a textbook. "
