Hypothesis #1 was supported. The experimental group
performed better on final examination simulation content
when compared with the control group that did not receive
the simulation intervention. Comparably, the groups did not
significantly differ in scores on final examination nonsimulation
content. Therefore, the simulation experience
provided an enriched learning experience that led to
improved learning outcomes 3-13 weeks after the simulation
experience. Although previous studies demonstrated
inconsistent results of knowledge retention using smallgroup
high-fidelity simulation, results from this study add
to the literature as initial evidence of knowledge retention
using large-group simulation
