Choose Performance Enhancement Tools
After the root causes of a performance problem have been identified, leaders must identify techniques that will solve the problem by changing the employee's motivation and performance. These changes can be considered performance enhancement tools. For example, the manager may increase the employee's pay or provide other rewards for doing a good job, or the manager may need to decrease the employee's pay. The manager may provide training to improve the employee's skills, or clarify expectations for performance, or give the employee more feedback about how he or she is doing.
