8. Switch the major dilution controller for the press feed tank to CASCADE, if
available, to monitor the feed flow controllers.
9. Adjust the wash water flow according to the desired production and switch
controllers to AUTOMATIC or CASCADE for dilution factor control, if
available.
10. Adjust wash water return or reflux flow so that 10% of the total wash flow is
returned. This is necessary only if the wash water contains a significant amount of
fibers. This will reduce the chance of plugging the small holes in the wash water
distribution plate.
11. Check that upstream equipment is ready to take filtrate from the filtrate tank.
12. Start the pump to send filtrate counter currently towards the cooking system.
13. Switch the level controller to AUTO mode when the filtrate tank level is stable.
14. The pulp production rate may now be used to control the feed to the press. This
flow controller may be moved to its CASCADE or REMOTE position.
