According to the IR curve, the main peaks of silica around 460 cm−1, 800 cm −1, and 1085 cm−1 changed slightly from the sam-ple dried at 80 °C to the sample heated under 600 °C. From XRD the structure of silica samples calcined under 600 °C was amorphous which implied the stability of silica. The weight loss of samples below 600 °C was mainly the physically adsorbed water and silanol condensation; this is in coincidence with the disappearance of peaks around 940 cm−1 of the silica which were heated under 600 °C in IR curves. Above 600 °C, the weight loss of sample was ignorable. The slight difference of TG and IR results of silica from different micro emulsion systems was caused by the remained organics.
