The current study indicated that omega-3 fatty acid administration
for 12 weeks among patients with DN did not affect biomarkers
of inflammation and oxidative stress. In agreement with
our study, daily consumption of 15 mL flaxseed oil did not affect
CRP levels among healthy young adults after 6-week treatment
[29]. Furthermore, in a study by Cunnane et al. [30] no significant effect in lipid hydroperoxides concentrations was seen following
the consumption of flaxseed oil among healthy young adults for 4
weeks. However, our previous study revealed that omega-3 fatty
acid administration in women with GDM for 6 weeks led to decreased levels of serum hs-CRP and plasma MDA, but did not
influence other biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress
[12]. Different findings of our study with others might be mediated
by different study designs, the differences in the population
