Goodwill on the acquisition of subsidiaries is capitalized as a separate line and tested for impairment annually, or more
frequently if impairment indicators are observed. For the purpose of impairment testing, goodwill is allocated to cash
generating units (CGUs) based on the level at which management monitors operations and makes decisions relating to
the continuation or disposal of assets and operations. If goodwill has been allocated to a CGU and an operation within
that unit is disposed of, the carrying amount of the operation includes attributable goodwill when determining the gain
or loss on disposal.
