A study involving 90 students enrolled in four sections of a remedial mathematics
course was conducted to determine if gender differences in the nonremedial
and general population also appeared in the remedial mathematics
population. Students were administered three instruments: an attitudes survey
consisting of four scales of the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitudes
Scales, the Differential Aptitudes Test (DAT), Space Relations Subtest, and
Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory (LSI).
